My M-gun shot Noel Edmonds - on his Suck and Blow Challenge - My Big Black Spider shot the crew. Being a great fan of Noel Edmonds and the Late Late Breakfast Show (and all things nutty) when Noel sent out the Challenge to do something different with a domestic vacuum cleaner, I jumped at the chance to once again show off my flair to excel and make things REALLY work. Again I offered more than they expected and developed and prototyped THREE ways to use a vacuum cleaner. The spider was a normal vacuum cleaner effectively turned into a high powered lottery ball machine with a barrel that made it an automatic multi ball shot gun. I took the idea further by devising a Hand Held version and also the way to produce it from stuff found around the house :- 2 Cardboard toilet roll tubes, - 2 strong paper cups, - 1 Large empty washing powder box, - some sticky tape, Just like in Blue Peter - I made A complete hand held gun and several stages of the making up process and took them to the show. The show used BOTH the above. The hand held gun was gaffer taped to one of the shows hand held cameras that went on to shoot Noel after the spider. I had first made an M-Gun from a large Quality Street tin but it was TOO good and looked and sounded just like the Tommy guns in the old movies. If enough people watch this video and link to it I will do a video on How to make a Quality M-gun The other thing I did was to use the suck side of the vacuum cleaner to be an effective suspending device ...

X-celerator Rocket Apogee Ejection Charge Test - 1.75 Grams BP

This is a recovery system ground test of my newly completed X-celerator rocket. It's a dual deployment setup which ejects a small drogue chute with the forward section of the rocket at apogee. A larger parachute is ejected from the forward section as the rocket descends through 500 feet. I calculated 1.75 grams of black powder was necessary to cut the 3 sheer pins and eject the forward section and drogue chute. This proved to be perfect. I wrapped the forward section in bubble wrap to protect the new paint. I used a hand-held vacuum pump connected to one of the static ports to trigger the altimeter. I sealed the 2 other ports. There are two altimeters (for redundancy) controlling 4 black powder charges. This test was for the Perfectflite MiniAlt WD. The other altimeter is a Raven 2.

A hand vacuum that works like a champ!

I bought this hand vacuum because lugging a canister vac up and down flights of carpeted stairs and resting it on a step to vacuum with a tiny attachment was driving me nuts. (If this is you, definitely carry on reading.) Oh, did I mention I have allergies, and 2 indoor cats? This Eureka performs just as promised. The suction is very powerful, and the unit is so easy to maneuver on the stairs. It has 2 "on" settings. One to turn the suction power on, and the other to activate the brushes. Because these 2 actions are powered separately, the brushes are powerful and pull up dust, fur, cat litter... anything embedded in that pile from years of ineffective vacuuming. The clear part on the front also flips down so the brushes can have at the risers. What a difference that makes! You don't have to contort you body into advanced yoga moves to vacuum anymore! The cord is long enough so you don't have to plug and unplug during your cleaning, and the mini-hose and crevice tool help get into the corners. My only negative comment is that the mini-hose doesn't seem to have enough suction for carpet. But it does it's job alright. I used it to clean the dust bunnies on a hard surface by my computer and it worked brilliantly. Just not as effective on carpet. The vac is also amazing on upholstery... even velvety pillows are cat fur free after a couple of sweep-overs with the Eureka cordless hand vacuum. The weight of the hand vacuum cleaner ...
